| 1 | 上主對亞巴郎說：「離開你的故鄉、你的家族和父家，往我指給你的地方去。 | 1 | And the Lord said to Abram: Go forth out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and out of they father's house, and come into the land which I shall shew thee. |
| 2 | 我要使你成為一個大民族，我必祝福你，使你成名，成為一個福源。 | 2 | And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and magnify thy name, and thou shalt be blessed. |
| 3 | 我要祝福那祝福你的人，咒罵那咒罵你的人；地上萬民都要因你獲得祝福。」 | 3 | I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee, and IN THEE shall all the kindred of the earth be blessed: |
| 4 | 亞巴郎遂照上主的吩咐起了身，羅特也同他一起走了。亞巴郎離開哈蘭時，已七十五歲。 | 4 | So Abram went out as the Lord had commanded him, and Lot went with him: Abram was seventy-five years old when he went forth from Haran. |
| 5 | 他帶了妻子撒辣依、他兄弟的兒子羅特和他在哈蘭積蓄的財物，獲得的僕婢，一同往客納罕地去，終於到了客納罕地。 | 5 | And he took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all the substance which they had gathered, and the souls which they had gotten in Haran: and they went out to go into the land of Chanaan. And when they were come into it, |
| 6 | 亞巴郎經過那地，直到了舍根地摩勒橡樹區；當時客納罕人尚住在那地方。 | 6 | Abram passed through the country into the place of Sichem, as far as the noble vale: now the Chanaanite was at that time in the land. |
| 7 | 上主顯現給亞巴郎說：「我要將這地方賜給你的後裔。」亞巴郎就在那裡給顯現於他的上主，築了一座祭壇。 | 7 | And the Lord appeared to Abram, and said to him: To thy seed will I give this land. And he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him. |
| 8 | 從那裡又遷移到貝特耳東面山區，在那裡搭了帳幕，西有貝特耳，東有哈依；他在那裡又為上主築了一座祭壇，呼求上主的名。 | 8 | And passing on from thence to a mountain, that was on the east side of Bethel, he there pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east; he built there also an altar to the Lord, and called upon his name. |
| 9 | 以後亞巴郎漸漸移往乃革布區。 | 9 | And Abram went forward, going, and proceeding on to the south. |
| 10 | 其時那地方起了饑荒，亞巴郎遂下到埃及，寄居在那裡，因為那地方饑荒十分嚴重。 | 10 | And there came a famine in the country; and Abram went down into Egypt, to sojourn there: for the famine was very grievous in the land. |
| 11 | 當他要進埃及時，對妻子撒辣依說：「我知道你是個貌美的女人； | 11 | And when he was near to enter into Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife: I know that thou art a beautiful woman: |
| 12 | 埃及人見了你，必要說：這是他的妻子；他們定要殺我，讓你活著。 | 12 | And that when the Egyptians shall see thee, they will say: She is his wife: and they will kill me, and keep thee. |
| 13 | 所以請你說：你是我的妹妹，這樣我因了你而必獲優待，賴你的情面，保全我的生命。」 | 13 | Say, therefore, I pray thee, that thou art my sister: that I may be well used for thee, and that my soul may live for thy sake. |
| 14 | 果然，當亞巴郎一到了埃及，埃及人就注意了這女人實在美麗。 | 14 | And when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw the woman that she was very beautiful. |
| 15 | 法郎的朝臣也看見了她，就在法郎前讚她美麗；這女人就被帶入法郎的宮中。 | 15 | And the princes told Pharao, and praised her before him: and the woman was taken into the house of Pharao. |
| 16 | 亞巴郎因了她果然蒙了優待，得了些牛羊、公驢、僕婢、母驢和駱駝。 | 16 | And they used Abram well for her sake. And he had sheep and oxen, and he asses, and menservants and maidservants, and she asses, and camels. |
| 17 | 但是，上主為了亞巴郎的妻子撒辣依的事，降下大難打擊了法郎和他全家。 | 17 | But the Lord scourged Pharao and his house with most grievous stripes for Sarai, Abram's wife. |
| 18 | 法郎遂叫亞巴郎來說：「你對我作的是什麼事？為什麼你沒有告訴我，她是你的妻子？ | 18 | And Pharao called Abram, and said to him: What is this that thou hast done to me? Why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife. |
| 19 | 為什麼你說：她是我的妹妹，以致我娶了她做我的妻子？現在，你的妻子在這裡，你帶她去罷！」 | 19 | For what cause didst thou say, she was thy sister, that I might take her to my wife? Now therefore, there is thy wife, take her, and go thy way. |
| 20 | 法郎於是吩咐人送走了亞巴郎和他的妻子以及他所有的一切。 | 20 | And Pharao gave his men orders concerning Abram: and they led him away, and his wife, and all that he had. |
