| 1 | 智慧之子，形成義人的集會；他們的家族充滿服從與友愛。 | 1 | The sons of wisdom are the church of the just: and their generation, obedience and love. |
| 2 | 孩子們，你們應聽從我，你們的父親；你們要這樣作，以便得救。 | 2 | Children, hear the judgment of your father, and so do that you may be saved. |
| 3 | 因為，上主願父親受兒女的尊敬，且確定了母親對子女的權利。 | 3 | For God hath made the father honourable to the children: and seeking the judgment of the mothers, hath confirmed it upon the children. |
| 4 | 孝敬父親的人，必能補贖罪過；且能戒避罪惡，在祈禱之日，必蒙應允。 | 4 | He that loveth God, shall obtain pardon for his sine by prayer, and shall refrain himself from them, and shall be heard in the prayer of days. |
| 5 | 孝敬母親的人，就如積蓄珍寶的人。 | 5 | And he that honoureth his mother is as one that layeth up a treasure. |
| 6 | 孝敬父親的人，必在子女身上獲得喜樂；當他祈禱時，必蒙應允。 | 6 | He that honoureth his father shall have joy in his own children, and in the day of his prayer he shall be heard. |
| 7 | 孝敬父親的，必享長壽；聽從上主的，必使母親得到安慰。 | 7 | He that honoureth his father shall enjoy a long life: and he that obeyeth the father, shall be a comfort to his mother. |
| 8 | 敬畏上主的人，必孝敬父母；奉事生他的父母，猶如奉事主人。 | 8 | He that feareth the Lord, honoureth his parents, and will serve them as his masters that brought him into the world. |
| 9 | 你當以言以行，以各樣的忍耐，孝敬你的父親， | 9 | Honour thy father, in work and word, and all patience, |
| 10 | 好使他的祝福，降到你身上，而存留至終。 | 10 | That a blessing may come upon thee from him, and his blessing may remain in the latter end. |
| 11 | 因為父親的祝福，鞏固子女的家庭；反之，母親的詛咒，拔除家庭的基礎。 | 11 | The father's blessing establisheth the houses of the children: but the mother's curse rooteth up the foundation. |
| 12 | 不要以你父親的羞辱為榮，因為父親的羞辱，為你不是光榮； | 12 | Glory not in the dishonour of thy father: for his shame is no glory to thee. |
| 13 | 原來人的光榮，是建在他父親的榮譽上；不名譽的母親，是子女的恥辱。 | 13 | For the glory of a man is from the honour of his father, and a father without honour is the disgrace of the son. |
| 14 | 我兒，你父親年老了，你當扶助；在他有生之日，不要使他憂傷。 | 14 | Son, support the old age of thy father, and grieve him not in his life; |
| 15 | 若他的智力衰弱了，你要對他有耐心，不要因你年富力強就藐視他； | 15 | And if his understanding fail, have patience with him, and despise him not when thou art in thy strength: for the relieving of the father shall not be for- gotten. |
| 16 | 因為，對父親所施的憐憫，是不會被遺忘的，天主必要赦免你的罪過，復興你的家庭。因你容忍母親的過失，必獲賞報； | 16 | For good shall be repaid to thee for the sin of thy mother. |
| 17 | 天主必依公義，建立你的家庭；在你困難之日，要記念你，要消滅你的罪過，有如晴天溶化冰霜。 | 17 | And in justice thou shalt be built up, and in the day of affliction thou shalt be remembered: and thy sine shall melt away as the ice in the fair warm weather. |
| 18 | 背棄父親的，形同褻聖；激怒母親的，已為上主所詛咒。 | 18 | Of what an evil fame is he that forsaketh his father: and he is cursed of God that angereth his mother. |
| 19 | 我兒，執行你的工作時，應當謙和；這樣，你會比施惠的人更受人愛戴。 | 19 | My son, do thy works in meekness, and thou shalt be beloved above the glory of men. |
| 20 | 你越偉大，在一切事上越當謙下；這樣，你纔能在上主面前，獲得恩寵。 | 20 | The greater thou art, the more humble thyself in all things, and thou shalt find grace before God: |
| 21 | 因為，只有上主的權能是偉大的，為謙遜人所尊崇。 | 21 | For great is the power of God alone, and he is honoured by the humble. |
| 22 | 為你太難的事，你不要尋找；超乎你能力的事，你不要研究；然而天主給你所規定的，你應時常思念，在他的許多工程上，你不應懷著好奇心去追究。 | 22 | Seek not the things that are too high for thee, and search not into things above thy ability: but the things that God hath commanded thee, think on them always, and in many of his works be not curious. |
| 23 | 因為，親眼觀察那些隱密的事，為你並不需要。 | 23 | For it is not necessary for thee to see with thy eyes those things that are hid. |
| 24 | 在超過你能力的事上，你不要勞神；在他的許多工程上，你不要懷著好奇的心； | 24 | In unnecessary matters be not over curious, and in many of his works thou shalt not be inquisitive. |
| 25 | 因為，你已見到許多，人類不能理解的事； | 25 | For many things are shewn to thee above the understanding of men. |
| 26 | 的確，有許多人受了自己妄想的欺騙，邪惡的幻想迷惑了他們的明悟。 | 26 | And the suspicion of them hath deceived many, and hath detained their minds in vanity. |
| 27 | 心裡頑硬的人，終究必有不幸的結局；愛危險的，必死於危險之中。 | 27 | A hard heart shall fear evil at the last: and he that loveth danger shall perish in it. |
| 28 | 徘徊在兩條路上的心，決不會成功；心術不正的人，必要絆倒。 | 28 | A heart that goeth two ways shall not have success, and the perverse of heart shall be scandalized therein. |
| 29 | 頑硬的心，必為愁苦所累；罪人必要罪上加罪。 | 29 | A wicked heart shall be laden with sorrows, and the sinner will add sin to sin. |
| 30 | 驕傲人們的創傷，無法醫治，因為惡根在他們身上，已根深蒂固，而他們卻不自覺。 | 30 | The congregation of the proud shall not be healed: for the plant of wickedness shall take root in them, and it shall not be perceived. |
| 31 | 明智人的心，領會寓言；智慧人的心願，是希求熱心的聽眾。 | 31 | The heart of the wise is understood in wisdom, and a good ear will hear wisdom with all desire. |
| 32 | 聰明睿智的心，必戒避罪惡；在正義的工作上，必獲成功。 | 32 | A wise heart, and which hath under- standing, will abstain from sine, and in the works of justice shall have success. |
| 33 | 水可以消滅烈火，施捨可以補贖罪過。 | 33 | Water quencheth a flaming fire, and alms resisteth sins: |
| 34 | 天主保佑施捨的人，此後必要記念他，在他跌倒時，要使他獲得扶助。 | 34 | And God provideth for him that sheweth favour: he remembereth him afterwards, and in the time of his fall he shall find a sure stay. |
