| 1 | 智慧的兒子使父親喜樂;愚昧的兒子,使母親憂愁。 | 1 | A wise son maketh the father glad: but a foolish son is the sorrow of his mother. |
| 2 | 不義之財,毫無益處;惟有正義,救人脫免死亡。 | 2 | Treasures of wickedness shall profit nothing: but justice shall deliver from death. |
| 3 | 上主不忍義人受飢,卻使惡人大失所望。 | 3 | The Lord will not afflict the soul of the just with famine, and he will disappoint the deceitful practices of the wicked. |
| 4 | 游手好閒,使人貧窮;勤奮工作,使人富有。 | 4 | The slothful hand hath wrought poverty: but the hand of the industrious getteth riches. He that trusteth to lies feedeth the winds: and the same runneth after birds that fly away. |
| 5 | 夏季貯蓄的,是明智的孩童;秋收酣睡的是無恥的兒子。 | 5 | He that gathered in the harvest is a wise son: but he that snorteth in the summer, is the son of confusion. |
| 6 | 上主的祝福在義人頭上,災禍卻使惡人啞口無言。 | 6 | The blessing of the Lord is upon the head of the just: but iniquity covereth the mouth of the wicked. |
| 7 | 義人受人懷念祝福,惡人卻必身敗名裂。 | 7 | The memory of the just is with praises: and the name of the wicked shall rot. |
| 8 | 心靈智慧的人,必接受命令;饒舌的愚的人,必自招喪亡。 | 8 | The wise of heart receiveth precepts: a fool is beaten with lips. |
| 9 | 走正路的,行路穩妥;走邪路的,終必敗露。 | 9 | He that walketh sincerely, walketh confidently: but he that perverteth his ways, shall be manifest. |
| 10 | 暗中擠眼的人,必引人煩惱;坦然規勸的人,必促進和平。 | 10 | He that winketh with the eye shall cause sorrow: and the foolish in lips shall be beaten. |
| 11 | 義人的口,是生命的泉源;惡人的口,是殘暴的淵藪。 | 11 | The mouth of the just is a vein of life: and the mouth of the wicked covereth iniquity. |
| 12 | 仇恨引起爭端,愛情遮掩一切過失。 | 12 | Hatred stirreth up strifes: and charity covereth all sins. |
| 13 | 有見識的口唇上,可找著智慧;棍杖只是為打缺乏智慧者脊背。 | 13 | In the lips of the wise is wisdom found: and a rod on the back of him that wanteth sense. |
| 14 | 智慧的人,隱諱自己學問;昧人的口,招致逼近的喪亡。 | 14 | Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the fool is next to confusion. |
| 15 | 富人的財富,是他自己的堅城;窮人的零落,卻是他們的貧乏。 | 15 | The substance of a rich man is the city of his strength: the fear of the poor is their poverty. |
| 16 | 義人的薪金,用以維持生活;惡人的收入,卻只用來犯罪。 | 16 | The work of the just is unto life: but the fruit of the wicked, unto sin. |
| 17 | 誰遵守勸告,必走向生命之路;誰輕視規勸,必自誤入迷途。 | 17 | The way of life, to him that observeth correction: but he that forsaketh reproofs goeth astray. |
| 18 | 撒謊的唇舌,必暗藏仇恨;散播謠言的,必是愚昧人。 | 18 | Lying lips hide hatred: he that uttereth reproach is foolish. |
| 19 | 多言難免無過,明智的人必約束自己的唇舌。 | 19 | In the multitude of words there shall not want sin: but he that refraineth his lips is most wise. |
| 20 | 義人的舌,貴若純金;惡人的心,賤似草芥。 | 20 | The tongue of the just is as choice silver: but the heart of the wicked is nothing worth. |
| 21 | 義人的唇舌教育群眾,愚人必因缺乏心智而死亡。 | 21 | The lips of the just teach many: but they that are ignorant, shall die in the want of understanding. |
| 22 | 使人致富的,是上主的祝福;營營的辛勞,卻無補於事。 | 22 | The blessing of the Lord maketh men rich: neither shall affliction be joined to them. |
| 23 | 愚昧人樂於作惡,明哲人樂於求智。 | 23 | A fool worketh mischief as it were for sport: but wisdom is prudence to a man. |
| 24 | 惡人畏懼的,反向他侵襲;義人的希望,終獲得應允。 | 24 | That which the wicked feareth, shall come upon him: to the just their desire shall be given. |
| 25 | 暴風雨一過,惡人不復存在;義人卻根深蒂固。 | 25 | As a tempest that passeth, so the wicked shall be no more: but the just is as an everlasting foundation. |
| 26 | 懶漢之於派遣他的人,就如醋之於牙,煙之於目。 | 26 | As vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that sent him. |
| 27 | 敬畏上主,將延年壽;惡人的歲月,必要短縮。 | 27 | The fear of the Lord shall prolong days: and the years of the wicked shall be shortened. |
| 28 | 義人的期待,終歸是喜樂;惡人的希望,終歸是失望。 | 28 | The expectation of the just is joy; but the hope of the wicked shall perish. |
| 29 | 上主的道路,是正人君子的保障;為作惡的人,卻是滅亡。 | 29 | The strength of the upright is the way of the Lord: and fear to them that work evil. |
| 30 | 義人永不會動搖,惡人決不會久留地上。 | 30 | The just shall never be moved: but the wicked shall not dwell on the earth. |
| 31 | 義人的口,散播智慧;邪惡的舌,必被剷除。 | 31 | The mouth of the just shall bring forth wisdom: the tongue of the perverse shall perish. |
| 32 | 義人的唇,常吐雅言,惡人的口,只說邪惡。 | 32 | The lips of the just consider what is acceptable: and the mouth of the wicked uttereth perverse things. |
