| 1 | 與眾寡合的,只求私意;對任何指教,都表忿恨。 | 1 | He that hath a mind to depart from a friend seeketh occasions: he shall ever be subject to reproach. |
| 2 | 愚昧的人不喜愛受教,只愛顯露自己的心意。 | 2 | A fool receiveth not the words of prudence: unless thou say those things which are in his heart. |
| 3 | 邪惡一來,輕視隨到;侮辱也隨無恥而至。 | 3 | The wicked man when he is come into the depth of sine, contemneth: but ignominy and reproach follow him. |
| 4 | 哲人口中的言語有如深水,又如洶湧的溪流,生命的泉源。 | 4 | Words from the mouth of a men are as deep water: and the fountain of wisdom as an overflowing stream. |
| 5 | 在判案時,徇惡人之私,加害於義人,實屬不公。 | 5 | It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to decline from the truth of judgment. |
| 6 | 愚人的唇舌,常引起爭端;愚人的口舌,常自招責打。 | 6 | The lips of a fool intermeddle with strife: and his mouth provoketh quarrels. |
| 7 | 愚人的舌,使自己喪亡;他的嘴唇,是害己的陷阱。 | 7 | The mouth of a fool is his destruction: and his lips are the ruin of his soul. |
| 8 | 進讒者的話,如可口美味,能深深透入肺腑的深處。 | 8 | The words of the double tongued are as if they were harmless: and they reach even to the inner parts of the bowels. Fear casteth down the slothful: and the souls of the effeminate shall be hungry. |
| 9 | 懶於操勞的人,是敗子的弟兄。 | 9 | He that is loose and slack in his work, is the brother of him that wasteth his own works. |
| 10 | 上主的名號,是堅固堡壘;義人投入內,必得享安全。 | 10 | The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the just runneth to it, and shall be exalted. |
| 11 | 富人的財產,是他的堅城;在他意想中,像座高牆垣。 | 11 | The substance of the rich man is the city of his strength, and as a strong wall compassing him about. |
| 12 | 心傲是滅亡的前導,心謙是光榮的前驅。 | 12 | Before destruction, the heart of a man is exalted: and before he be glorified, it is humbled. |
| 13 | 未聽而先答,實愚昧可恥。 | 13 | He that answereth before he heareth sheweth himself to be a fool, and worthy of confusion. |
| 14 | 剛毅的精神,能忍受病苦;若精神萎靡,有誰能支持? | 14 | The spirit of a man upholdeth his infirmity: but a spirit that is easily angered, who can bear? |
| 15 | 明智人的心,必獲得學問;智慧人的耳,必探求知識。 | 15 | A wise heart shall acquire knowledge: and the ear of the wise seeketh instruction. |
| 16 | 禮物能給人大開門路,引人晉謁權貴。 | 16 | A man's gift enlargeth his may, and maketh him room before princes. |
| 17 | 先訴理者似有理,對手來時再審斷。 | 17 | The just is first accuser of himself: his friend cometh, and shall search him. |
| 18 | 抽籤可以使爭端平息,也能調解權貴的糾紛。 | 18 | The lot suppresseth contentions, and determineth even between the mighty. |
| 19 | 兄弟若不和,比堅城還攻克;他們的難辯,有如碉堡的門閂。 | 19 | A brother that is helped by his brother, is like a strong city: and judgments are like the bars of cities. |
| 20 | 人必以口中果實充滿肚腹,必飽嘗自己唇舌的出產。 | 20 | Of the fruit of a man's mouth shall his belly be satisfied: and the offspring of his lips shall fill him. |
| 21 | 死亡和生命,全在乎唇舌;放縱唇舌的,必自食其果。 | 21 | Death and life are in the power of the tongue: they that love it, shall eat the fruits thereof. |
| 22 | 誰覓得了賢妻,便覓得了幸福,得了上主恩眷。 | 22 | He that hath found a good wife, hath found a good thing, and shall receive a pleasure from the Lord. He that driveth away a good wife, driveth away a good thing: but he that keepeth an adulteress, is foolish and wicked. |
| 23 | 貧窮的人哀懇乞憐;富貴的人厲聲以對。 | 23 | The poor will speak with supplications, and the rich will speak roughly. |
| 24 | 交朋友過多,必會有損害;但有些朋友,遠勝親兄弟。 | 24 | A man amiable in society, shall be more friendly than a brother. |
